NetFPGA spring camp – joint workshop, University of Cambridge and the Faculty of Electronics and Telecommunications - Poznań 2013
May 20-24, 2013

From May 20 to May 24, 2013, the Faculty of Electronics and Telecommunications hosted a workshop on programming NetFPGA cards. The organizer of the event was the Chair of Communication and Computer Networks and the University of Cambridge in Great Britain. Staff members of the Computer Lab of one of the most widely recognized universities who, along with researchers and engineers from Stanford University (USA), have created an open platform enabling researchers and instructors to build high-speed, hardware-accelerated networking systems within the NetFPGA.org project, presented to the participants of the spring camp the capabilities and potentials of NetFPGA cards and shared with us their enormous experience and know-how. The workshop lasted five days and focused on practical programming and activation of cards in our computer lab. Similar workshops have been organized annually in Stanford and Cambridge since 2008. The workshops are led by researchers and engineers operating in local groups developing NetFPGA cards. We are extremely happy that this year’s spring camp was held at Poznan University of Technology, the more so that hitherto organized workshops were based on cards with the throughput of 1Gbps, whereas this year’s NetFPGA workshop was based for the first time in the world on the throughput of 10 Gbps. The workshop was attended by over 20 participants working in academic research and industrial environments, mainly from Europe, but also from South America and Asia.
